littlestclouds.livejournal.comi've been hearing a little bit about nick swisher for rookie of the year. what about chris shelton?
prior to today's game, he had four homeruns and seventeen RBI in only 74 ABs, with just 13 strike outs. (he has 5 homeruns and nineteen RBI as we speak because he just hit a two-run homer during tonight's game.)
in the last six days, shelton's BA is .400, his OBP is .439, his slugging percentage is .650 and his OPS is 1.079.
swisher has played 54 games and has nine homeruns and thirty-two RBI. his BA is .237 in 198 ABs and 46 strike outs.
in the last six days, his BA is .250, his OBP is .280, his slugging percentage is .792 and his OPS is 1.072,
comparable numbers in nearly thirty fewer games.
i believe shelton qualifies as a rookie because he played 27 games in 2004; swisher played 20 and swisher is considered a rookie.
of course, if shelton isn't a rookie, then all of this is moot.
and a rod allen gem from tonight's game:
Rod: They're beatin' up on these Yankees like they stole somethin'.
