My random Tuesday morning thoughts...

1) We are a really boring team to watch sometimes. Leyland himself said this the other day. If I see one more routine popout with two men on I'm going to throw the remote through the friggin' TV.
2) Is it just me, or do we always suck on national TV? Always. The Lions have this problem, too. Of course, they suck no matter what.
3) Has Gary Sheffield actually, you know, hit safely this season?
4) I'm becoming worried about Verlander. You never know when a guy is going to lose it, and for every 250 game winner going to Cooperstown there are a dozen guys who had a couple spectacular seasons and were never the same.
5) Speaking simply as a fan, something about this team is just demoralizing. They start as horribly as they did, and just when we thought they were breaking out, sweeping the Yanks at The Stadium, they promptly go on their second-longest losing streak of the year.
6) Speaking anecdotally, the bullpen seems to be in the early stages of shaking off its status as "pleasant surprise." Although Cruceta has, indeed, been pretty much all he was cracked up to be.
7) As you might have noticed, I'm having a hard time being optimistic right now. It seems like we're having serious problems putting together all-around games. When the pitching is there, the hitting isn't and vice-versa. Taking last night for example, Bondo gave up four runs in six innings, which isn't going to get him a Cy Young but neither is it a bad start. Meanwhile, Dice-K walks eight guys in five innings and we managed one lonely little run off the guy.
Oh well, maybe we get our elusive 15th win tonight? Go Tigs!
