A few news notes (a number from Dombrowski's interview):
For those who didn't see, Garcia went out today with a shoulder/neck issue. It's unknown what it is yet, but occurred after ducking a throw to second by Ryan.
Surprise, surprise, the Tigers aren't picking up Renteria's option. I keep hearing different things on the buyout with a number of sources saying Detroit is paying it and others saying Boston's on the hook for it. Anyone know for sure (the best I could get is an "industry insider")? Anyway, his Elias ranking seems to have gone up, projecting him as a Type A FA. Offering him arbitration is an option, as is resigning him.
Also, in that same article, Dombrowski indicates they'll look for a closer outside the organization while saying K-Rod will likely be too expensive. Though, that doesn't mean the Tigers are trying to slash payroll as has been said by many Detroit columnists, because they aren't.
From the previous article, Dombrowski says Ryan could start at catcher or platoon (I'd imagine with Sardinha).
Back to SS: Dombrowski thinks Iorg (finished in Lakeland) "is going to be an All-Star very soon - I mean, real soon" and had good things to say about Dnany Worth (who finished in Toledo, but spent most of his time in Erie). Whatever the Tigers do, be it bringing in a free agent or resigning Renteria, don't expect anything long term with what Dombrowski thinks of Iorg. I'd imagine that'd cancel out a free agent and maybe mean renting Renteria for another year, or working with Ramon - though sticking both his and Inge's bats in the lineup fulltime could be rough if Santiago's stat's don't extrapolate as a fulltime player.

I was a bit confused.
