In an act of team unity (or extreme boredom) during the day/night doubleheader, several members of the team got mohawk haircuts. Apparently this is all Joel Zumaya's fault.

Joel Zumaya

Alex Avila

Jeremy Bonderman

Phil Coke and Ryan Perry

Fu-Te Ni and Brad Thomas

Brandon Inge also apparently got a mohawk, although he was nowhere to be seen in the second game of the doubleheader.

Miguel Cabrera thinks you're all out of your minds, guys.

Yeah but... Maybe Damon didn't suggest it yesterday, but he let Alex cut his hair on Saturday before the game. So couldn't he be considered the trend setter? Or maybe Alex Avila needs to share in some of the blame too.

Yeah, it was pretty clear from his statements that he was trying to distance himself from any claims of 'encouragment' that might come his way.

Personally I find the entire thing hilarious. It's hair. It'll grow back. I can't imagine a wife/girlfriend/whatever getting upset about it. Not like getting matching tattoos or something permanent.

What if she wants to go somewhere nice and has to take an overgrown kid with a mohawk with her?!

Assuming she knew what he did for a lving (i.e. playing baseball) she should be pretty cool with him being a big kid. Don't we all want to be big kids most of the time?

Obviously, I'm pretty laid back. I suppose I should have said "I can't imagine MYSELF being upset by something like that."

I want Leyland to get a mohawk. Now that I'd pay to see. :)

I don't think Bondo's counts. It's more of a landing strip than anything else.

Man, it's a good thing I'm not a major leaguer. I'd be chilling in the bullpen and someone like Zumaya comes up to me...

"What's going on, what do you want me to do? A what? Mohawk? Man, you guys are friggin' stupid. No, I don't care that you got the Asian guy to do it. Why do we have to be so white trash all the time anyway?"

And then I'd be ostracized :c

Personally, I love it. It makes me happy to see them having fun together and acting like buds. LOVE that even Ni got in on it.

I heard that Valverde said he would get a mohawk if everyone else did. And then everyone else did. And he didn't. :3
